It's been almost 200 years since braille was developed by Louis Braille and made life just a little bit easier for about 36 million blind people around the world. Today, on his birthday, we celebrate World Braille Day.
Unfortunately, in Slovenia and many other countries, braille is still not required on elevator buttons and is not widely used in elevators, not even in hotels and publicly accessible areas.
Here at LIFTKO, we suggest making braille required in elevators. All elevators should have both raised numerals and their braille counterpart on all signage. This would be a big victory for all blind and visually impaired people.
